About Karen . . . .
Karen grew up in San Diego, California, and began singing in public at the age of 3. She has
been a featured soloist in churches and concerts all over the United States, Mexico, and
Japan. She has performed everything from classical to jazz, gospel to contemporary, even
musical theater! She has sung solos for televised concerts, professional sports teams, and
2 American Presidents.
Karen was the founder and director of The International Academy of Matsumoto, a
Montessori-based international school in downtown Matsumoto, while living in
Japan for about 10 years with her American husband, David, and their young son. The
family now travels the globe full time, blogging about their culinary explorations over at
